About
Mr Dimitrios Paparas is a PhD student within the AgriFoRwArdS Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). He holds a BEng in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Southampton and an MSc in robotics and autonomous systems from the University of Lincoln. Building on his MSc work with open-source hardware (OSH) whisker sensors and computer vision-based detection of graft failure in tomato plants, his research trajectory focuses on advancing robotic perception through the development of a multimodal sensory framework. This work, developed in collaboration with Dyson Farming, integrates robotic olfaction and tactile sensing to assist computer vision in real-time soft-fruit harvesting tasks and plant physiology monitoring applications. His research is being supported by Professor Luigi Occhipinti from Loughborough University.
