Dry Room

Our Dry Room is used for assembly of large batteries as well as handling materials sensitive to moisture. 

Dry Room is continuously maintained at -55 dew point C (RH~0.1%).

For access or general training, please contact the lab leader Dr Kai Xi, or the deputy Mr Dylan Maxwell.  For training on any of the equipment, please contact the Principal User or their deputy for the listed equipment.

MSK-HRP-01 is compact Hot Rolling Cylinder Press with a max working temperature of 100°C. The tool is designed to increase the active material density of electrodes after coating in Li-ion battery research. It has a pair of 100mm width steel rollers with a heating capacity of 100°C max.

The MSK-180 is a tool in the production line of pouch cell to produce specific shapes of cathodes and anodes with current collector tabs. The size of the electrodes it cuts perfectly matches the standard pouches made by the MSK-120  cup forming machine, and the shape of the electrodes it produces is also handy for the latter processing steps of tab welding by MSK-800. The IR sensor (Safety Curtain) built in the front of the machine ensures operation safety when electrode sheets are fed from the front.

MSK-120 is a CE Certified cup forming machine used in the production line of making pouch cell batteries with two optional size ranges. It is used to prepare polymer cases made of Aluminium Laminated Films.

Ultrasonic Metal Welder - Tabbing

MSK-800W is a CE Certified ultrasonic metal welder with a colour touch-screen controller. It is designed for welding stacked electrode sheets (Copper & Aluminum) and tabs onto current collectors during the preparation of Li-ion pouch cells.

 

Compact Vacuum Sealer

MSK-115A-S is a compact vacuum sealer for the sealing of aluminium-laminated pouch cell cases.

 

 
 

Compact Heating Sealer

MSK-140 is a CE Certified compact heating sealer for sealing aluminium-laminated films during pouch cell case preparation. It is used for sealing the side and top of the pouch cell with the tab before the electrolyte has been injected.

  

Vacuum Oven

This Vacuum Oven is used for annealing and baking out samples. Max temperature 250 degrees C.
